Listen to this October 2021 interview with Carla about the farm!
Matunuck Alpaca is located in the small coastal town of Wakefield, Rhode Island. The farm is home to 15 Alpacas; 10 females and 5 males. The herd is made up of Huacaya (pronounced wah-KI-ah), “Teddy Bear” Alpacas, known for their thick, soft fleece.
At Matunuck Alpaca, we shear our Alpacas yearly. The fiber is sent to a mill and then made into beautiful yarn, socks, hats and gloves that can be found in our shop. We also carry a large selection of handmade Alpaca items from small farms in Peru, Bolivia and Chile where Alpaca often support families.
